Updated 15 May 2026: Yangon, The Ministry of Health at Nay Pyi Taw has issued a Notification No. 453 / 2021 Order relating to Standardized Packaging of, and Printing Graphic for Health Warning Images and Texts on Cigar and Tobacco Products, on 12 October 2021. Myanmar become one of the 3 ASEAN countries that have adopted the standardized packaging legislation.
Implementation has been delayed till 31 December 2023. A few brands have started issuing their own brands in new warning messages and texts, in compliance of the above notification by October 2025.
Cheroots, Cigars and smokeless tobacco products have not yet complied with the notification till mid-2026.
