27 May 2024: Local News: People’s Health Foundation has been registered as a National NGO till 22 April 2029, as per Registration Number 1/Pyitwin/0064 (2022) dated 22 April 2024.
People’s Health Foundation (PHF) has been established as a non-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO) since 21 December 2012. It was initially registered at the Ministry of Home Affairs as a national association with Register No, 2060, valid till December 31, 2017. After completing five years of work, a new registration No.1/Internal/0626, has been issued for another five years till December 31, 2022. Under the new rules of NGO Registration by the Union Registration Board, People’s Health Foundation has been registered as a Domestic Association on 22 April 2024 with the registration number, 1/Domestic/0064 (2022) and it is valid till 22 April 2029.
People’ Health Foundation has no affiliation or financial linkage to any political party. It serves as an intermediary body to bridge between the Ministry of Health and various government agencies, the civil society groups, health development partners, and the national and international NGOs. PHF is managed by the central executive committee, with the support of patrons, advisory board, technical groups and managerial support unit. The executive committee (EC) consists of volunteers (President, Secretary, Joint-Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, and other EC members), who have long experience of working for health development at national and international levels. There are around 80 staff employed by the Foundation to serve for program implementation. Presently, the Foundation’s Office is situated at No. 52, Chindwin Street, Kamayut Township, Yangon.
The main aim of the People’s Health Foundation is “to uplift the health status of the people by improving access to universal health care, and to strengthen the social environment for health development of the entire population of Myanmar”. The priority focus is to address the health development of the under-served and under-privileged population living in rural and peri-urban areas. Its General Objective is “to collaborate with the Ministry of Health, and to support and assist the systematic development of health systems so as to uplift the levels of health of the people, and to support and improve access to universal health care available to everyone.”
