After successful implementation of the project on “Disaster risk reduction support and health and hygiene awareness improvement projects in schools and villages in Gwa Township, Rakhine State” from 2020-2023, a new project “Disaster Risk Reduction Support and Human Resource Development project at the schools and villages in
in Latputta Township, Ayeyarwady Region” for the period, June-December 2025. is implementing in Latputta Township, Ayeyarwady Region, covering 10 Villages. Its main objective is “to improve health knowledge and healthy living practices, and management of disasters, through dissemination of effective health literacy promotion campaigns and disaster risk preparedness and management education, in the 10 Basic Education Schools, and through them to the respective villagers in Latputta Township, utilizing newly installed LCA Systems and Hazard Maps.”
Project Strategies are:
(1) To identify the health needs of the 10 Basic Education Schools (primary, middle, or high schools) in Latputta Township, based on the findings of the village and school health surveys,
(2) To make site surveys of selected Basic Education Schools and install the LCA systems, provide appropriate training on effective usage of the system,
(3) To develop and collect health literacy promotion materials which would reflect the health needs of the schools, and to provide education sessions on health measures and disaster management, by using the LCA system,
(4) To organize school-based health literacy promotion programs and disaster management education,
(5) To organize disaster preparedness and mitigation training at the newly established training room at the Township Department of Disaster Management, in Latputta,
(6) To assess the improvement of the health literacy of the students from selected schools, by conducting small scale KAP study.
